WHEN LIZARD CAN, WHY CAN'T WE?

In order to renovate the house, someone in Japan Breaks open the wall. Japanese houses normally have a hollow space between the wooden walls. When tearing down the walls, he found that there was a lizard stuck there because a nail from outside hammered into one of its feet. He sees this, feels pity, and at the same time curious, as when he checked the nail, it was nailed 10 years ago when the house was first built.

So he stopped his work and observed the lizard, what it has been doing, and what and how it has been eating. Later, not knowing from where it came, appears another lizard, with food in its mouth.

Such help! Such happened even with this tiny creature ... What can help do? It can do wonders! Help can do miracles!

Like many people, I find that the first step in making myself better is always the most difficult step. It's always easier changing myself after I've made that first step. So here I go, sharing with you, dear perfect reader, my secret to making that first step.

1. Decide where I want to step. 2. Step. 3. Step again. 4. Keep on going.

Item number one is the most difficult -- it's the one that I can waste the most time on. In physics, we are taught that a body at rest stays at rest until acted on by another force. So it is with human beings. Human beings tend to stick until a force moves them. Sometimes, that force is from within. Preferably, that force is from within. Often, it's from outside.

If you're having a problem starting, try my best suggestion: change something small about yourself: change the side of the bed that you sleep on; change the time you get up; change the way you drive to work, or the tie you habitually wear; change something small, and you can change something big.

It seems somewhat strange to think about it. How can changing the type of breakfast cereal that you eat force you to change how you feel about yourself? Simple...any change, no matter how small, makes more change easier. Make a small change, and it makes it easier to make a big one.

Once you're prepared, then just (as Nike would say) do it. Make that first step, then a second, and a third, and a fourth. Make the first step a small one, but make it now. Don't wait. Make it now.

Tech Support - I had been doing Tech Support for Hewlett-Packard's DeskJet division for about a month when I had a customer call with a problem I just couldn't solve. She could not print yellow. All the other colors would print fine,which truly baffled me because the only true colours are cyan, magenta, and yellow.

For instance, green is a combination of cyan and yellow, but green printed fine. Every color of the rainbow printed fine except for yellow. I had the customer change ink cartridges. I had the customer delete and reinstall the drivers. Nothing worked. I asked my coworkers for help; they offered no new ideas. After over two hours of troubleshooting, I was about to tell the customer to send the printer in to us for repair when she asked quietly, "Should I try printing on a piece of white paper instead of this yellow paper?"

Isn't life fantastic? Even if there are problems at the moment, think of all of the wonderful gifts that surround us. We have the ability to visit museums and beautiful parks for little, if any, charge. We can attend movies and live shows for just the price of a ticket. We have the option to eat out at an unlimited number of restaurants, and choose from an almost obscene array of groceries at the corner store. And on top of all that, we have special people in our life that we can share our love and care with.

Let's face it, when we compare our lives to what's happening in the rest of the world, we've got it pretty good. Even just the fact that we have access to a computer places us in a tiny percentage of the human population.

But, does contemplating the wonderful blessings in your life just make you feel worse, or, at the least, a little uncomfortable? Fear plays a big role in holding us back, and I have found that it is the activities that I fear the most that, if pursued, eventually lead to the greatest fulfillment.
For example, I have always been afraid of public speaking. I have chosen my career, my relationships and my lifestyle to avoid public speaking whenever possible. I've also stayed away from management, because I believed that I wasn't "management material". While I find my life rewarding, you can imagine the roadblocks I have encountered with that sort of mindframe.

But, I finally faced my fear a couple of years ago and joined Toastmasters. If you are not familiar with it, Toastmasters International is an organization designed to help individuals become better public speakers, communicators, and leaders. WOW, was I intimidated the first time I got up to speak! Terrified doesn't begin to define it. But, as with anything you work at, it got easier and easier to stand and speak coherently (if not eloquently). And now, almost two years later, I have come to realize that despite the fact that I may never be totally comfortable speaking in public, I can do it, and in a way that others will benefit from my message.

In short, facing a fear that I had opened new doors to me – but not in the direction I anticipated at all! While I have no idea where my newfound skills will take me in life, I am up to the challenge.

It has been said that all healthy people look for challenges. If you aren't facing a challenge you are standing still. So join me! Let's stop standing still and being spectators. Accept the challenge. Want more……of yourself.

The red ball and the paper were easy to find because they both reflect red light and therefore would look red. You will be really confused because you might think the banana would still be yellow.

Remember when you were a little child trying to learn to walk? Maybe not, but I'm pretty sure it went something like this:First you had to learn to stand: a process involving constantly falling down, then getting back up. You laughed sometimes and cried at other times. Somehow there was a determination and conviction that you would succeed, no matter what. After much practice you finally figure out how to balance yourself, a necessary requirement. You enjoyed this new feeling of power - you'd stand everywhere you could - in your crib, by the couch, on someone's lap. It was a joyous time - you did it! You were in control of you.

Now - the next step - walking. You'd seen others do it - it didn't look that hard - just move your legs while you were standing, right? Wrong - more complexity than you ever imagined. More frustration than anyone should have to deal with. But you tried, again and again and again until you figured this out, too.

If we could only remember this about ourselves in today's day. Remember that we can do anything we set our minds to if we are willing to go through the process, just like when we learned to walk. We don't need to wait for others to encourage us; we need to encourage ourselves.

If you've forgotten how to do this, or feel like your self-esteem needs a boost, take a short journey back through the your life - look at your accomplishments, no matter if they were large or small - you met the challenge and figured out a way to succeed. Focus on all the things you thought you could never do, initially, and did. While going back, look for the little child you once were. Thank them for never giving up. As you wave goodbye, remember they will never give up on you. They have believed in you all of your life!

THE SONG

When a woman in a certain African tribe knows she is pregnant, she goes out into the wilderness with a few friends and together they pray and meditate until they hear the song of the child. They recognize that every soul has its own vibration that expresses its unique flavor and purpose. When the women attune to the song, they sing it out loud. Then they return to the tribe and teach it to everyone else. When the child is born, the community gathers and sings the child's song to him or her.

Later, when the child enters education, the village gathers and chants the child's song. When the child passes through the initiation to adulthood, the people again come together and sing. At the time of marriage, the person hears his or her song. Finally, when the soul is about to pass from this world, the family and friends gather at the person's bed, just as they did at their birth, and they sing the person to the next life.

In the African tribe there is one other occasion upon which the villagers sing to the child. If at any time during his or her life, the person commits a crime or aberrant social act, the individual is called to the center of the village and the people in the community form a circle around them. Then they sing their song to them. The tribe recognizes that the correction for antisocial behavior is not punishment; it is love and the remembrance of identity.

When you recognize your own song, you have no desire or need to do anything that would hurt another. A friend is someone who knows your song and sings it to you when you have forgotten it. Those who love you are not fooled by mistakes you have made or dark images you hold about yourself. They remember your beauty when you feel ugly; your wholeness when you are broken; your innocence when you feel guilty; and your purpose when you are confused.

You may not have grown up in an African tribe that sings your song to you at crucial life transitions, but life is always reminding you when you are in tune with yourself and when you are not. When you feel good, what you are doing matches your song, and when you feel awful, it doesn\'t. In the end, we shall all recognize our song and sing it well. You may feel a little warbly at the moment, but so have all the great singers. So remember, just keep singing and you\'ll find your way home.

The nefarious connotations of 666 weren't invented by some heavy metal band -- they are rooted in the Bible. The final book of the New Testament is Revelation, and for centuries theologians have pondered its highly symbolic, prophetic language. Revelation tells of impending Armageddon, an end of all time, when a great war will be fought between good and evil, and God will triumph. In Revelation, "the beast," also called the Antichrist, personifies evil.

Revelation, Chapter 13 speaks of the beast and how to identify his followers. According to verses 16 and 17, they will have the mark or the name or number of the beast on their right hands or foreheads. Verse 18 introduces the number 666 itself: "Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast: for it is the number of a man; and his number is Six hundred threescore and six."

It's unclear why the specific number 666 is the number of the beast. According to Dial-the-Truth Ministries, the number 6 is the number of man because in the Bible, God created man on the sixth day. Elsewhere in the Bible (Matthew 16:23), Satan is described as being "man-centered" (as opposed to God-centered). Thus the devil's number would be a twist on man's number. This is just one theory, and the number 666 has generated plenty of debate.

Six is known as an "imperfect number" because it is one short of seven, the "perfect number" (seven days in the week, seven tongues of flame, seven spiritual gifts...). So three (the number of the Trinity) sixes is seen as extremely imperfect. Therefore, 666 represents imperfect man, while 777 represents God.

In Roman numerals 666 represents all the numbers from 1 to 500 in descending order, D (500) + C (100) + L (50) + X (10) + V (5) + I (1), or DCLXVI. Robert Graves suggests in his study of pagan symbolism The White Goddess that this is an acronym for the Latin sentence Domitianus Caesar Legatos Xti Violenter Interfecit, or "The Emperor Domitian violently killed the envoys of Christ".

A father, just married and still very young had gotten into the insurance industry. To say that he was successful is a gross understatement (he joined Nationwide's top sellers before 25 years of age and was featured in Time Life Magazine as a result). He went on to be one of the first independent insurance salesman in the area of Tuscaloosa, AL.

Then he decided to move on to other ventures. Why in the world would someone who had built security head face first into the uncertain you ask? Simply put, his heart was no longer in it. He wanted to do other ventures. So that's what he did. I won't tell you he was successful in everything he tried, but I can tell you he had the satisfaction of doing what he enjoyed.

My friend, leaving one's comfort zone is no small chore! I can say that when all's said and done it's worth it! For better or worse we will at least know without a doubt that we tried. And knowing that is worth much more than I can put into words. It is with writing this message that I hope that you're also finding personal satisfaction in your life. You owe yourself nothing less!

The Power of "PERHAPS" © by Anita Foley

Do you find that every time you think about making a change in your life you sabotage yourself by thinking it is unlikely that you'll be able to do it? Do all the negative, self-limiting thoughts come to the forefront and stop you in your tracks? You must learn to change these self-imposed limitations that are preventing you from reaching your potential. Then you can transform your life and achieve your dreams.

Use the word PERHAPS to change your negative beliefs to possibilities that invite ACTION and, ultimately, to positive beliefs and probabilities. "I CAN'T do math" can become "PERHAPS I can do math if I take some action" and then become "I CAN probably do math". Likewise, "I WON'T make money with an online business" becomes "PERHAPS I can make money with an online business if I start one and work at it" to "I CAN probably make money with an online business." Do you see how changing that one word will change the whole feeling of the belief?

Think about the potential outcome for your changed beliefs. Changing your negative beliefs is the first step in the transformation process that will really make a difference in your life. What are your possibilities?

Nearly every American achiever has been impacted at some time in their life by the wisdom of Dr. Norman Vincent Peale. As a young boy, Peale faced a fight against strong inferiority feelings when growing up. Over the years he developed and refined the message that anyone could put the principles of positive thinking and strong faith into practice and improve upon their own life dramatically.

Peale put his gifted writing skills to work over the years. His fourth book "The Power of Positive Thinking," was published in 1952 and has sold nearly 20 million copies and has been printed in 41 different languages. Peale completed what has been called his all-time inspirational best seller at age 54. He was the author of 46 inspirational books including "The Art of Living," "A Guide to Confident Living," "The Tough-Minded Optimist," and "Inspiring Messages for Daily Living."

For 54 years, Peale's weekly radio program, "The Art of Living," was on the air. His sermons were said to be mailed to over 750,000 people per month and in 1964 a movie was made of his life entitled "One Man's Way."

Life is a Do-It-Yourself Project

An elderly carpenter was ready to retire. He told his employer-of his plans to leave the house building business and live a more leisurely life with his wife enjoying his extended family. He would miss the paycheck, but he wanted to retire. The contractor was sorry to see his good worker go and asked if he could build just one more house as a personal favor. The carpenter said yes, but his heart was not in his work. He resorted to shoddy workmanship and used inferior materials.

When the carpenter finished his work and the builder came to inspect the house, the contractor handed the front-door key to the carpenter. "This is your house," he said, "my gift to you." What a shock! What a shame! If he had only known he was building his own house, he would have done it all so differently. Now he had to live in the home he had built none too well.

Think of yourself as the carpenter. Think about your house. Each day you hammer a nail, place a board, or erect a wall. Build wisely. It is the only life you will ever build. Even if you live it for only one day more, that day deserves to be lived graciously and with dignity. The plaque on the wall says, "Life is a do-it-yourself project."

I was working at Johns Hopkins as an Administrative Manager. I left my office to go to the ladies room and found one of our medical residents sobbing. I sat and talked with her for a while and tried to give her encouragement.

The Emperor and The Seed

An emperor in the Far East was growing old and knew it was time to choose his successor. He called young people in the kingdom together one day. He said, "It is time for me to step down and choose the next emperor. I have decided to choose one of you." "I am going to give each one of you a seed today. One very special seed. I want you to plant the seed, water it and come back here after one year from today with what you have grown from this one seed." One boy named Ling was there that day and he, like the others, received a seed. He went home and excitedly told his mother the story. She helped him get a pot and planting soil, and he planted the seed and watered it carefully.

Ling kept checking his seed, but nothing ever grew. 3 weeks, 4 weeks, 5 weeks went by. Still nothing. By now, others were talking about their plants but Ling didn't have a plant, and he felt like a failure. Six months went by, still nothing in Ling's pot. He just knew he had killed his seed.

A year finally went by and all the youths of the kingdom brought their plants to the emperor for inspection.He looked at Ling, and then announced to the crowd, "Behold your new emperor! His name is Ling!" Ling couldn't believe it. Then the emperor said, "One year ago today, I gave everyone here a seed. I told you to take the seed, plant it, water it, and bring it back to me today. At the beginning of my 8:00 a.m. class one Monday at UNLV, I cheerfully asked my students how their weekend had been. One young man said that his weekend had not been very good. He'd had his wisdom teeth extracted. The young man then proceeded to ask me why I always seemed to be so cheerful.

His question reminded me of something I'd read somewhere before: "Every morning when you get up, you have a choice about how you want to approach life that day," I said to the young man. "I choose to be cheerful."

"Let me give you an example," I continued. The other sixty students in the class ceased their chatter and began to listen to our conversation. "In addition to teaching here at UNLV, I also teach out at the community college in Henderson, about seventeen miles down the freeway from where I live. One day, a few weeks ago, I drove those seventeen miles to Henderson. I exited the freeway and turned onto College Drive. I only had to drive another quarter-mile down the road to the college. But just then my car died. I tried to start it again, but the engine wouldn't turn over. So I put my flashers on, grabbed my books, and marched down the road to the college."

"As soon as I got there I called AAA and asked them to send a tow truck. The secretary in the Provost's office asked me what had happened. This is my lucky day," I replied, smiling.

"Your car breaks down and today is your lucky day?" She was puzzled. "What do you mean?"

"I live seventeen miles from here." I replied. "My car could have broken down anywhere along the freeway. It didn't. Instead, it broke down in the perfect place: off the freeway, within walking distance of here. I'm still able to teach my class, and I've been able to arrange for the tow truck to meet me after class. If my car was meant to break down today, it couldn't have been arranged in a more convenient fashion."

The secretary's eyes opened wide, and then she smiled. I smiled back and headed for class. So ended my story to the students in my economics class at UNLV.

I scanned the sixty faces in the lecture hall. Despite the early hour, no one seemed to be asleep. Somehow, my story had touched them. Or maybe it wasn't the story at all. In fact, it had all started with a student's observation that I was cheerful.

A wise man once said, "Who you are speaks louder to me than anything you can say." I suppose it must be so.

The Pencil story

The Pencil Maker took the pencil aside, just before putting him into the box. "There are 5 things you need to know," he told the pencil, "Before I send you out into the world. Always remember them and never forget, and you will become the best pencil you can be."

"One: You will be able to do many great things, but only if you allow yourself to be held in Someone's hand."

Sunday had finally come for Detective Kelvin Wallace. It was the day of the auction. He was an avid collector of antique items. He was looking for something from the collection of a King, especially Louis XIV, as he did not have any of his items.Finally, the collection of King Louis XIV came up for auction. You have to walk your own walk in this life. And as you are traveling down your road, don't look down at your feet. Keep your head up and your eyes focused on what you know to be true. Be neither a follower nor a leader. You are not forsaken; you are forgiven, and when shadows exist simply find higher ground to tread upon. If you come across an obstacle or an impasse, pay mind to it but don't focus on it for too long or your feet may sink into the quicksand that surrounds it. Find the courage to surmount it and continue on your journey.

Offer your hand to those you come across who are stuck in their own personal sand traps, but do not point them in the direction you feel they must go, that has to be their decision. Only imply to them that they are never alone, and they will eventually find their way. When you get to where you are going and you look back, it is your own footprints you are going to want to see, not someone else's. The importance of your trials and tribulations is a gift to be beholden, for that is how you will learn whom you truly are.

POSEIDON released all over the world ran to a full house in chennai today ... whether it fulfilled the expectations of the audience or not is a ? ...

Captioned "titanic 2" it didn't even come close to be called "titanic 20" ... If you thought you could give your eyes a feast with the ship's luxurious interior or charm (1000 crore investement on this movie would make you think so) all you get is an appetizer for the first 10 minutes and the plight of those who came 10 minutes late is the only comedy element of this movie ("Dei ... Ship engada? / Padatha adhukulla mudichutaangala" were the comments we heard)

Coming to the story ... POSEIDON sinks after hit by a "rogue wave" on the New Year's eve and how 6 people escape out of the wreckage is the whole story ..

Heroism, Sentiment, Irony .. you have everything in this movie ... but too much of "technicalities" (you see more of wires, motors & water than the characters) doesn't help everyone enjoy the movie ...

The performance of Josh Lucas, Kurt Russell & the little boy Jimmy Bennett is worth watching the movie once.

Abraham Lincoln meets Grace Bedell

A few weeks before he was elected President, Lincoln received a letter from Grace Bedell, a 11-year-old girl from Westfield, New York, who urged him to grow a beard to help him get elected. In Lincoln's response of October 19, he gave no promises, but a month later allowed his beard to grow.

By the time Lincoln left his Illinois home to start his inaugural journey to Washington, D.C., he wore a full beard. The trip took him by rail through New York state, stopping briefly in Westfield on February 16. Once at the train station, he called into the crowd for Grace. The following contemporary newspaper accounts recorded the incident.

The Given Light Barbara Hug

Once upon a time a man had heard, that in a foreign place, far away, there was a holy flame burning. So he got up and left his home to find the holy flame and bring some of its light back home to his house. He thought: 'When I have this light, then I will have happiness and life and all the people I love will have it too.'

He travelled far, far away and finally found the holy flame, with which he lit his light. On his way home he met someone who was freezing and didn't have any fire and who begged him to give him some of his fire. The man with the light hesitated for a moment. Wasn't his light too precious, too holy to be given away for something ordinary like that? Despite these doubts, he decided to give some of his light to the one who was freezing in the darkness.

The man continued his journey home and when he had almost reached his house a terrible thunderstorm started. He tried to protect his light from the rain and the storm, but at the end his light went out. To return the long way back to the place where the holy flame was burning was impossible, he wouldn't have had enough strength to go back this far - but he was strong enough to return to the human being whom he had helped on his way home

..........and with his light he could light his own again

Positive motivation can be used to shape more complex behaviors Pets and people are more willing to work for rewards. Typically, they do more of what brings them pleasure and less of what gives them pain. How can we use these practices in everyday life? With our kids/spouses/co-workers? People thrive on attention and rewards. Make sure you are rewarding the behavior you want repeated.

• Catch your spouse/child/co-worker doing something good and give them direct, specific feedback.Don't just say 'You are doing a good job.' Be specific. It's better to say something like, "I like the way you present your ideas. You are clear and precise and always include recommendations for how to implement specifics."
• Find at least one thing each day you can give someone positive feedback on to re-enforce behaviors you would like repeated.
• Tailor rewards to the person. For some people just being asked their opinion is a reward. It gives them the attention they seek. For your children, it may be time with a video game or a treat after dinner. Find out what motivates the person and reward accordingly.

Positive Reinforcement can be used with the people in your life as a technique to get more of the behaviors you want. Why Not! start now.

When I say, "I am depressed", it can at best mean only my mind is depressed, though I am not. When you are angry, when you are depressed, simply say silently in your mind, "It is not me but only my mind is depressed or angry". The magic of such recitation will douse the anger and dilute the depression.

I am the owner of my body and mind; I love my body and mind. They are my truest ever friends right from the time I came to this earth and they will remain with me till I breathe my last breath. To reach within my body, I use my mind. I often ill-treat my body and mind. Yet, I am responsible for the state of health of my mind. In the Solomon Islands in the south Pacific some villagers practice a unique form of logging. If a tree is too large to be felled with an ax, the natives cut it down by yelling at it. Woodsmen with special powers creep up on a tree just at dawn and suddenly scream at it at the top of their lungs. They continue this for thirty days. The tree dies and falls over. The theory is that the hollering kills the spirit of the tree. According to the villagers, it always works.

We educated folks yell at traffic and umpires and bills and banks and machines--especially machines. Machines and relatives get most of the yelling. Don't know what good it does. As for people, well, the Solomon Islanders may have a point. Yelling at living things does tend to kill the spirit in them. Sticks and stones may break our bones, but words will break our hearts....
