Rules from Bill Gates
Rule 1: Life is not fair -- get used to it!
Rule 2: The world won't care about your self-esteem. The world will expect you to accomplish something BEFORE you feel good about yourself.
Rule 3: You will NOT make $60,000 a year right out of high school. You won't be a vice-president with a car phone until you earn both.
Rule 4: If you think your teacher is tough, wait till you get a boss.
Rule 5: Flipping burgers is not beneath your dignity. Your Grandparents had a different word for burger flipping -- they called it opportunity.
Rule 6: If you mess up, it's not your parents' fault, so don't whine about your mistakes, learn from them.
Rule 7: Before you were born, your parents weren't as boring as they are now. They got that way from paying your bills, cleaning your clothes and listening to you talk about how cool you thought you were.
Rule 8: Your school may have done away with winners and losers, but life HAS NOT. In some schools they have abolished failing grades and they'll give you as MANY TIMES as you want to get the right answer. This doesn't bear the slightest resemblance to ANYTHING in real life.
Rule 9: Life is not divided into semesters. You don't get summers off and very few employers are interested in helping you FIND YOURSELF. Do that on your own time.
Rule 10: Television is NOT real life. In real life people actually have to leave the coffee shop and go to jobs.
Rule 11: Be nice to nerds. Chances are you'll end up working for one.

Today's Inspirational Quote:
"Do not wait; the time will never be 'just right.' Start where you stand, and work with whatever tools you may have at your command, and better tools will be found as you go along." - Napoleon Hill
So What Killed Napoleon?
The causes given for the demise of Napoleon range from the fantastical to the plausible. Some authorities have accepted the verdict of stomach cancer. As recently as March, 2003, national newspapers printed an article of a study confirming that cancer was the cause of death. Others have not agreed.
In many respects, no historical person's medical record has been so microscopically examined. Many of the maladies supposedly suffered by Napoleon have little to do with his cause of death, but these speculations illustrate the bizarre accumulation of medically related issues. It has been suggested that Napoleon suffered from attacks of hemorrhoids so severe that they actually influenced the result at the Battle of Waterloo.
In addition to scabies, the chronic skin disease neurodermititis (explaining Napoleon's penchant for prolonged baths), rages, weeping fits, migraines and dysuria, a medical journal article in 1966 by Ayer proposed that all of these symptoms were the result of the parasitic disease schistosomiasis, (acquired during the Egyptian campaign of 1798). To round out these speculations, Napoleon's hormones have been implicated as having important roles in his personality. These include suggestions of hyperthyroidism, Foehlich's Syndrome (pituitary deficiency), hypogonadism, Klinefelter's Syndrome (an extra X chromosome) and, as a bonus, undefined latent homosexuality.
Even the much examined Adolf Hitler, with his condition of hemicryptorchidism, never rivaled the encyclopedic medical record of Napoleon. Then, of course, there are the poisoning theories.

Q. Who was the first to devise food canning which resulted in the beginning of the canned food industry of today?
A. Because Napoleon believed that armies marched on their stomachs, he offered a prize in 1795 for a practical way
of preserving food. The prize was won by a French inventor, Nicholas Appert. What he devised was canning. It
was the beginning of the canned food industry of today.

THE SECRET OF SUCCESS (Cappucino Stories - Richard Quek)
There was once a boy who wanted to seek the secret of success. One day he approached a wise man living up in the mountain. When he found the wise man at the hut, he asked, "Wise man, can you tell me the secret to becoming successful in life?" The wise man was silent for a while. After a moment of silence, the wise man led the young lad to a nearby river.
They kept walking into the river until the boy's head was fully submerged in the water. The boy struggled to keep his head above the water. To his astonishment, the wise man did not help him. Instead, the wise man held the boy's head in the water. After a few minutes the wise man pulled the boy out of the water and they proceeded to walk back to the hut.
At the hut the wise man asked the young boy what he desired most when his head was submerged in water. To this the young boy quickly responded, "Of course, I wanted to breathe, you old fool!" To which the wise man replied, "Son, if you desire success as much as you wanted to breathe, then you would have found the true secret of success."

Concentration Opens the Door to Success (Max Stein)
The first law of success is concentration. Bend all your energies to one point, and go directly to that point, looking neither to the left nor the right.
By focusing your efforts to a single point, you'll always achieve the greatest results. If you concentrate your efforts on a few major goals, your efficiency will soar, your projects will be completed, and you'll be going somewhere.
Focus totally on the business at hand and command yourself to do exactly what you want to do. If you focus the full power of all you are on what you have a burning desire to achieve, you'll attain success.

HELP is an act, do it, let it go. LOVE is a gift, take it, let it grow. PATIENCE is a sign, we should wear, let it show.
WHEN LIZARD CAN, WHY CAN'T WE?
In order to renovate the house, someone in Japan Breaks open the wall. Japanese houses normally have a hollow space between the wooden walls. When tearing down the walls, he found that there was a lizard stuck there because a nail from outside hammered into one of its feet. He sees this, feels pity, and at the same time curious, as when he checked the nail, it was nailed 10 years ago when the house was first built.
So he stopped his work and observed the lizard, what it has been doing, and what and how it has been eating. Later, not knowing from where it came, appears another lizard, with food in its mouth.
Such help! Such happened even with this tiny creature ... What can help do? It can do wonders! Help can do miracles!
Think, will u do that to your Partner, Mom, Dad, Friends , Coworkers, Brothers & and Sisters ?

"Parcel post, ma'am. I have a package that needs a signature."
"Where's the package?" I asked suspiciously.
The deliveryman held it up. "Could I see some ID?" I said, still not convinced.
"Lady," he replied wearily, "if I wanted to break into your house, I'd probably just use these." And he pulled out the keys I had left in the door.

Today's Inspirational Quote:
The function of leadership is to produce more leaders, not more followers. - Ralph Nader
The First Step is the Hardest Daryl R. Gibson
Like many people, I find that the first step in making myself better is always the most difficult step. It's always easier changing myself after I've made that first step. So here I go, sharing with you, dear perfect reader, my secret to making that first step.
1. Decide where I want to step. 2. Step. 3. Step again. 4. Keep on going.
Item number one is the most difficult -- it's the one that I can waste the most time on. In physics, we are taught that a body at rest stays at rest until acted on by another force. So it is with human beings. Human beings tend to stick until a force moves them. Sometimes, that force is from within. Preferably, that force is from within. Often, it's from outside.
If you're having a problem starting, try my best suggestion: change something small about yourself: change the side of the bed that you sleep on; change the time you get up; change the way you drive to work, or the tie you habitually wear; change something small, and you can change something big.
It seems somewhat strange to think about it. How can changing the type of breakfast cereal that you eat force you to change how you feel about yourself? Simple...any change, no matter how small, makes more change easier. Make a small change, and it makes it easier to make a big one.
Once you're prepared, then just (as Nike would say) do it. Make that first step, then a second, and a third, and a fourth. Make the first step a small one, but make it now. Don't wait. Make it now.

Great men of India - Sir M.V.
One of the makers of modern India. 'MV' was a genius. Perfectly honest and devoted to his work, he set new standards of efficiency. Mysore (Karnataka), in South India, has made great progress because of him.
The Krishnarajasagara Dam - or KR or Brindavana, as it is also called - has amazed and enchanted thousands of visitors from all countries. It is one of the biggest dams in India. It waters a hundred and twenty thousand acres of land. It supplies electricity to hundreds of towns and villages.
The Bhadravati Iron and Steel Works is today an asset to India. The sandal oil and the sandal soap of Mysore are famous all over the world. The Mysore Sandal Oil Factory and the Mysore Soap Factory export sandal oil and sandal soap to many countries. Mysore University is one of the oldest in India. The State Bank of Mysore (it was first named the Bank of Mysore) has branches, not only all over Karnataka, but also in every big city in India. The man who gave even one of these would deserve admiration and gratitude.
But all these were the gifts of one man - and he gave these to his country about fifty-five years ago, when it was still not free and when few people here cared to study science. This great man, this worker of miracles, this Bhagiratha of Karnataka, this Bharata Ratna (the Gem of India) was Sri M.V., Dr.M.VISVESVARAYA.

Tech Support - I had been doing Tech Support for Hewlett-Packard's DeskJet division for about a month when I had a customer call with a problem I just couldn't solve. She could not print yellow. All the other colors would print fine, which truly baffled me because the only true colours are cyan, magenta, and yellow.
For instance, green is a combination of cyan and yellow, but green printed fine. Every color of the rainbow printed fine except for yellow. I had the customer change ink cartridges. I had the customer delete and reinstall the drivers. Nothing worked. I asked my coworkers for help; they offered no new ideas. After over two hours of troubleshooting, I was about to tell the customer to send the printer in to us for repair when she asked quietly, "Should I try printing on a piece of white paper instead of this yellow paper?"

The Power of Words
A Yale University study determined the 12 most persuasive words in the English language. Here they are - starting with the most powerful:
(1) You, (2) Money, (3) Save, (4) New, (5) Results, (6) Easy, (7) Health, (8) Safety, (9) Love, (10) Discovery, (11) Proven, (12) Guarantee. Someone tried to use them all in one marketing slogan and came up with: You can save money with Germ-Gone, the easy-to-use, proven new discovery that guarantees your health and safety. You'll love the results!
Research also determined the "most powerful word combinations" in the English language. They are: (1) Thank You, (2) Would You Please, (3) What do you think?, (4) I am proud of You.
From these studies it's easy to determine the most persuasive, most powerful word in the English language. The answer is obvious: YOU!

Today's Inspirational Quote:
What lies behind us and what lies before us are tiny matters compared to what lies within us.
Want More? By: Sue Dickinson
Isn't life fantastic? Even if there are problems at the moment, think of all of the wonderful gifts that surround us. We have the ability to visit museums and beautiful parks for little, if any, charge. We can attend movies and live shows for just the price of a ticket. We have the option to eat out at an unlimited number of restaurants, and choose from an almost obscene array of groceries at the corner store. And on top of all that, we have special people in our life that we can share our love and care with.
Let's face it, when we compare our lives to what's happening in the rest of the world, we've got it pretty good. Even just the fact that we have access to a computer places us in a tiny percentage of the human population.
But, does contemplating the wonderful blessings in your life just make you feel worse, or, at the least, a little uncomfortable? Fear plays a big role in holding us back, and I have found that it is the activities that I fear the most that, if pursued, eventually lead to the greatest fulfillment.
For example, I have always been afraid of public speaking. I have chosen my career, my relationships and my lifestyle to avoid public speaking whenever possible. I've also stayed away from management, because I believed that I wasn't "management material". While I find my life rewarding, you can imagine the roadblocks I have encountered with that sort of mindframe.
But, I finally faced my fear a couple of years ago and joined Toastmasters. If you are not familiar with it, Toastmasters International is an organization designed to help individuals become better public speakers, communicators, and leaders. WOW, was I intimidated the first time I got up to speak! Terrified doesn't begin to define it. But, as with anything you work at, it got easier and easier to stand and speak coherently (if not eloquently). And now, almost two years later, I have come to realize that despite the fact that I may never be totally comfortable speaking in public, I can do it, and in a way that others will benefit from my message.
In short, facing a fear that I had opened new doors to me – but not in the direction I anticipated at all! While I have no idea where my newfound skills will take me in life, I am up to the challenge.
It has been said that all healthy people look for challenges. If you aren't facing a challenge you are standing still. So join me! Let's stop standing still and being spectators. Accept the challenge. Want more……of yourself.

If you take a banana, a sheet of white paper, a red ball, and a few random things and put them all in a room where only red light could be seen. You can find the ball and the paper with no problem, but not the banana. Why?

A banana reflects yellow light and the yellow light goes into your eye. Since there is no yellow light, the banana looked black. Today's Inspirational Quote:
To accomplish great things, we must not only act, but also dream; not only plan, but also believe. - Anatole France
SURE YOU CAN! - Marlene
Remember when you were a little child trying to learn to walk? Maybe not, but I'm pretty sure it went something like this:First you had to learn to stand: a process involving constantly falling down, then getting back up. You laughed sometimes and cried at other times. Somehow there was a determination and conviction that you would succeed, no matter what. After much practice you finally figure out how to balance yourself, a necessary requirement. You enjoyed this new feeling of power - you'd stand everywhere you could - in your crib, by the couch, on someone's lap. It was a joyous time - you did it! You were in control of you.
Now - the next step - walking. You'd seen others do it - it didn't look that hard - just move your legs while you were standing, right? Wrong - more complexity than you ever imagined. More frustration than anyone should have to deal with. But you tried, again and again and again until you figured this out, too.
If we could only remember this about ourselves in today's day. Remember that we can do anything we set our minds to if we are willing to go through the process, just like when we learned to walk. We don't need to wait for others to encourage us; we need to encourage ourselves.
If you've forgotten how to do this, or feel like your self-esteem needs a boost, take a short journey back through the your life - look at your accomplishments, no matter if they were large or small - you met the challenge and figured out a way to succeed. Focus on all the things you thought you could never do, initially, and did. While going back, look for the little child you once were. Thank them for never giving up. As you wave goodbye, remember they will never give up on you. They have believed in you all of your life!

Slow Down - One day a policeman stopped a motorist who had just gone through a four way stop sign and was about to give him a ticket when the motorist said. "Officer you can't give me a ticket for that!' "Why not" said the officer. "Because although I did not stop I slowed right down and its almost the same." "But you did not stop" replied the officer, "and the sign says STOP." "But the way was clear and it was safe" replied the motorist. The officer then pulls out his batton and starts hitting the motorist. "What are you doing!" yells the motorist in surprise. "Do you want me to slow down or stop" says the officer.

Today's Inspirational Quote:
You pile up enough tomorrows, and you'll find you've collected a lot of empty yesterdays. - Professor Harold Hill (The Music Man)
THE SONG
When a woman in a certain African tribe knows she is pregnant, she goes out into the wilderness with a few friends and together they pray and meditate until they hear the song of the child. They recognize that every soul has its own vibration that expresses its unique flavor and purpose. When the women attune to the song, they sing it out loud. Then they return to the tribe and teach it to everyone else. When the child is born, the community gathers and sings the child's song to him or her.
Later, when the child enters education, the village gathers and chants the child's song. When the child passes through the initiation to adulthood, the people again come together and sing. At the time of marriage, the person hears his or her song. Finally, when the soul is about to pass from this world, the family and friends gather at the person's bed, just as they did at their birth, and they sing the person to the next life.
In the African tribe there is one other occasion upon which the villagers sing to the child. If at any time during his or her life, the person commits a crime or aberrant social act, the individual is called to the center of the village and the people in the community form a circle around them. Then they sing their song to them. The tribe recognizes that the correction for antisocial behavior is not punishment; it is love and the remembrance of identity.
When you recognize your own song, you have no desire or need to do anything that would hurt another. A friend is someone who knows your song and sings it to you when you have forgotten it. Those who love you are not fooled by mistakes you have made or dark images you hold about yourself. They remember your beauty when you feel ugly; your wholeness when you are broken; your innocence when you feel guilty; and your purpose when you are confused.
You may not have grown up in an African tribe that sings your song to you at crucial life transitions, but life is always reminding you when you are in tune with yourself and when you are not. When you feel good, what you are doing matches your song, and when you feel awful, it doesn\'t. In the end, we shall all recognize our song and sing it well. You may feel a little warbly at the moment, but so have all the great singers. So remember, just keep singing and you\'ll find your way home.

In any moment of decision the best thing you can do is the right thing, the next best thing is the wrong thing, and the worst thing you can do is nothing. - Theodore Roosevelt
Shake off your problems - Sekola Phakoe
A man's favorite donkey falls into a deep precipice;
He can't pull it out no matter how hard he tries;
He therefore decides to bury it alive.
Soil is poured onto the donkey from above.
The donkey feels the load, shakes it off, and steps on it;
More soil is poured. It shakes it off and steps up;
The more the load was poured, the higher it rose;
By noon, the donkey was grazing in green pastures.
Shake off your problems and learn how to overcome them in future.

The world is a dangerous place to live, not because of the people who are evil, but because of the people who don't do anything about it. - Albert Einstein
Why is the number 666 associated with the devil? (http://ask.yahoo.com/)
The nefarious connotations of 666 weren't invented by some heavy metal band -- they are rooted in the Bible. The final book of the New Testament is Revelation, and for centuries theologians have pondered its highly symbolic, prophetic language. Revelation tells of impending Armageddon, an end of all time, when a great war will be fought between good and evil, and God will triumph. In Revelation, "the beast," also called the Antichrist, personifies evil.
Revelation, Chapter 13 speaks of the beast and how to identify his followers. According to verses 16 and 17, they will have the mark or the name or number of the beast on their right hands or foreheads. Verse 18 introduces the number 666 itself: "Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast: for it is the number of a man; and his number is Six hundred threescore and six."
It's unclear why the specific number 666 is the number of the beast. According to Dial-the-Truth Ministries, the number 6 is the number of man because in the Bible, God created man on the sixth day. Elsewhere in the Bible (Matthew 16:23), Satan is described as being "man-centered" (as opposed to God-centered). Thus the devil's number would be a twist on man's number. This is just one theory, and the number 666 has generated plenty of debate.

666 again!
Six is known as an "imperfect number" because it is one short of seven, the "perfect number" (seven days in the week, seven tongues of flame, seven spiritual gifts...). So three (the number of the Trinity) sixes is seen as extremely imperfect. Therefore, 666 represents imperfect man, while 777 represents God.
In Roman numerals 666 represents all the numbers from 1 to 500 in descending order, D (500) + C (100) + L (50) + X (10) + V (5) + I (1), or DCLXVI. Robert Graves suggests in his study of pagan symbolism The White Goddess that this is an acronym for the Latin sentence Domitianus Caesar Legatos Xti Violenter Interfecit, or "The Emperor Domitian violently killed the envoys of Christ".

LEAVING ONE'S COMFORT ZONE IS NO SMALL CHORE! by Josh Hinds
A father, just married and still very young had gotten into the insurance industry. To say that he was successful is a gross understatement (he joined Nationwide's top sellers before 25 years of age and was featured in Time Life Magazine as a result). He went on to be one of the first independent insurance salesman in the area of Tuscaloosa, AL.
Then he decided to move on to other ventures. Why in the world would someone who had built security head face first into the uncertain you ask? Simply put, his heart was no longer in it. He wanted to do other ventures. So that's what he did. I won't tell you he was successful in everything he tried, but I can tell you he had the satisfaction of doing what he enjoyed.
My friend, leaving one's comfort zone is no small chore! I can say that when all's said and done it's worth it! For better or worse we will at least know without a doubt that we tried. And knowing that is worth much more than I can put into words. It is with writing this message that I hope that you're also finding personal satisfaction in your life. You owe yourself nothing less!

A clean joke to sign off your week with laughter
Perfect Golf Shot - Bob stood over his tee sot for what seemed an eternity. He waggled, looked up, looked down, waggled again, but didn't start his backswing. Finally his exasperated partner asked, "what the hell is taking so long?" "My wife is up there watching me from the clubhouse," Bob explained. "I want to make a perfect shot." "Good lord!" his companion exlaimed. "You don't have a snowball's chance in hell of hitting her from here."
Have a memorable day & a fun-filled weekend!
